A man drove at excessive speeds to evade police officers after he was caught using a sex toy in the back of his car.
Mehboob Mohammed, 53, was initially spotted by witnesses in Glasgow’s Castlemilk on August 23, 2023.
Mohammed was found half-naked with his phone propped up as he committed a sex act on himself.
He was reported to the police, who later found him in a state of panic.
Mohammed went on to drive at excessive speeds, go on the wrong side of the road and went through a red light as officers pursued him to East Kilbride, Lanarkshire.
Mohammed pled guilty on Tuesday at Glasgow Sheriff Court to a charge of public indecency.
He also admitted assaulting two police officers, dangerous driving and failing to appear at a court hearing.
The court heard that the witnesses’ attention was drawn to Mohammed’s Honda Civic vehicle on a residential street.
He was noted to be in the backseat, carrying out a sex act with the toy.
Prosecutor Kyle Dalziel said: “One witness approached the car to see that Mohammed had no trousers, socks or shoes with his phone propped up as if he was watching something.”
Mohammed said: “I’m waiting on a friend.”
The witness replied: “Get out your car you beasty b******, I’m taking a picture of your registration.”
Mohammed shouted, “No,” put his trousers back on, and got into the front seat before he drove off.
Police were contacted and traced Mohammed in his car who was “profusely sweating”.
He refused to open his car door to officers and claimed that he “wanted to go home”.
Mohammed continued to refuse to comply and drove towards two officers who had to take evasive action.
Blue lights and sirens were activated while Mohammed continued to drive at excessive speeds.
He also manoeuvred through bends without due care or attention and entered the wrong side of the road.
Mr Dalziel added: “He struck a motor vehicle which caused damage then continued on the road.”
A police stop tactic was eventually carried out on Mohammed in East Kilbride where he was arrested.
Greg Cunningham, defending, told the court: “He is in employment and lives at a staple address with his wife and adult son.”
Sentence was deferred pending background reports until next month by Sheriff Shona Gilroy who granted Mohammed, of East Kilbride, bail.
