A man was smashed on the face with a hammer during a street robbery in Dumfries and Galloway.
The 29-year-old victim was targeted while walking along Greystone Avenue, Kelloholm, on Saturday.
Two men got out of a small blue/grey vehicle that pulled up beside him.
One of the suspects then struck the victim on the face with a hammer, causing him to fall to the ground.
The other suspect then stole the victim’s mobile phone and a three-figure sum of money from his trouser pockets.
The attackers then got back into the vehicle and drove off.
Police said the victim sustained minor injuries.
A force spokesperson said: “If you saw or heard anything suspicious or have any information in relation to this incident that would assist officers with their enquiries, please phone us.”
