Man seriously injured after being attacked by youths on e-bikes in cemetery

The man was attacked by two youths in Greenock Cemetery on Tuesday afternoon.

A man has been seriously injured after being attacked by youths on e-bikes while in a cemetery in Greenock.

The 43-year-old was approached and assaulted by two male youths within Greenock Cemetery near South Street, around 12.50pm on January 20.

He was left with serious injuries and taken to hospital for treatment.

The two youths, who were wearing dark clothing with their faces covered, made off in the direction of the Bow Farm area after the assault.

Detective constable Cheryl O’Donnell said: “This incident left a man with serious injuries, and extensive enquiries are ongoing to trace those responsible.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of the cemetery at the time and saw the incident, or anyone matching the description of the suspects, to come forward and speak to officers.”
