Man 'seen with firearm' on city street as police launch search

A search was launched in a Glasgow neighbourhood after reports of a man carrying a firearm.

Police were called to Shafton Road, Anniesland, at around 4.25pm on Tuesday following the report.

A helicopter response team attended and searched the area, however, no one was traced or arrested in connection.

It is confirmed no one was injured as a result of the incident.

Enquiries into the report remain ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.25pm on Tuesday, May 2, police were called to a report of a man seen with what appeared to be a firearm, near to Shafton Road, Glasgow.

“Officers attended and searches were carried out in the local area, however there was no trace of him.

“There have been no reports of any firearm discharged or anyone injured.

“Police enquiries are continuing into this report.”
