A man has been rushed to hospital following a crash between a car and a van in Wishaw.

A 46-year-old passenger of a Ford Transit van suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash on Sunday.

The driver of the van was uninjured from the collision which occurred with an unoccupied Ford Transit flatbed van.

The passenger was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where his condition is described by medics as stable.

The incident took place around 9.20am on Alcath Road near to Bonkle Road in Newmains.

The road was closed while crash investigations were carried out and re-opened around 12.30pm.

Sergeant Craig McDonald said: “We’re appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash or was in the area at the time to get in touch.

“I would also ask if there are any other motorists with possible dash-cam footage or anyone with information that may help with our investigation to contact police.

“Anyone with information can call Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 1054 of Sunday, December 4.”
