A man has been rushed to hospital following a serious assault in Port Glasgow.

A 52-year-old man was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment.

Police in Greenock are appealing for witnesses to the attack which occurred on the Highholm Street area of Port Glasgow around 9.40am on Wednesday.

Detective inspector Neil Martin said: “We’re carrying out extensive enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident.

“If you were in the Highholm Street area around the time in question, or have any information which could assist our investigation or dash-cam, doorbell or CCTV footage, please call police on 101, quoting incident 0792 of March 29.

“Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
