A man has been rushed to hospital after his motorbike collided with a van in Lanarkshire.

The 44-year-old rider of a green Indian Scout motorbike suffered serious injuries after the crash on Wednesday morning in Overtown.

The crash occurred around 6.50am on the A71 near Garrion Bridge.

The occupants of the grey Ford Transit van were not injured.

Enquiries remain ongoing into the circumstances of the crash and officers are appealing for witnesses.

Road Policing sergeant Chris McColm said: “We’re looking to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened or saw the vehicles before the crash.

“I’m also keen to hear from anyone with dash cam or any other footage of the area around 6.50am on Wednesday.

“Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 0482 of Wednesday, October 25.”
