Police are searching for a group of four male youths after a 20-year-old was assaulted at a bus stop in Airdrie.

A man was robbed of his phone and assaulted by a group of youths at a bus stop in North Lanarkshire.

Police have launched an appeal after a 20-year-old man was approached by a group of four male youths at a bus stop on Stirling Road, Airdrie, at around 10pm on Sunday.

The man was robbed of his phone before being assaulted by one of the group.

He did not require hospital treatment.

The group were last seen running down Stirling Street, in the direction of Wellwynd.

The suspect is described as white, around 16 to 18 years old, 5ft7, with short brown hair and he was wearing a grey tracksuit during the time of the assault.

Detective Constable Lisa McMullen said: “We understand that a woman may have witnessed this incident and we are appealing for her, or anyone else who saw what happened, to please get in touch.

“We would also like to hear from people with private CCTV or dash-cam footage of the area from Sunday evening which could be of significance.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3726 of Sunday, March 24, 2024. Alternatively you can speak to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
