A man has been jailed after he injured two police officers in a hit-and-run in South Lanarkshire.

Officers were responding to a disturbance at a property on Deveron Crescent in Hamilton on April 17, 2024.

Declan Jamieson fled the scene in a stolen car. He then used the car to repeatedly ram the police vehicle, causing injury to the two officers within.

The pair suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital to be assessed.

At Hamilton Sheriff Court on Tuesday, the 36-year-old pled guilty to driving while disqualified and being in possession of a knife.

He was jailed for 18 months and banned from driving for seven years.

Detective Sergeant Graham McAdam said: “Jamieson’s actions were totally reckless and inconsiderate of the consequences, causing injury to two officers who were simply doing their duty.

“We take violent incidents such as this very seriously and will continue to bring offenders to justice.”
