A man has been left with serious injuries after being attacked as he sat by the water at a park in Motherwell.

The 49-year-old was approached by two men in Calder Park at around 5pm on Friday June 26 and attacked with a knife.

He was taken to University Hospital in Wishaw and treated for his injuries.

Detective constable Alison Thomson said: “We are unsure what the motive is for this attack.

“I am appealing for the other people who were in Calder Park around the time of the incident to contact us with any information.

“Perhaps you saw the men approach the victim or saw the two suspects run off. If you have any information or details which could assist our investigation, please do get in touch.

Any small piece of information could be significant as we continue our enquiries.”

There is limited information on the suspects at this stage. One is white, around 5ft 8 in height, with a slim build and short, dark hair.

The second suspect is white, around 5ft 6 in height, with a stocky build and dark hair.

Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at Wishaw Police Station via 101, quoting incident number 3096, of 26 June, 2020.
