A man was taken to hospital with lacerations after being assaulted by a group of four men in North Ayrshire on Saturday.
The 58-year-old was in a home on Caldon Road, Irvine, at around 9.50am when the gang came inside and attacked him.
He was left injured and was taken to Crosshouse Hospital by ambulance where he was treated for his wounds.
Police said the four men were all wearing dark-coloured clothing – no further details have been released.
Detective constable Ross Keenan, of Saltcoats Police Station, said: “We have been carrying out enquiries in the local area and checking CCTV footage to gather more information on the four men responsible for this violent attack.
“I would ask anyone who has information on their identity, or anyone with information that may assist our ongoing investigation to contact officers through 101 quoting reference 4162 of June 5. Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
