A man has been left seriously injured after being attacked by a weapon-wielding gang in North Lanarkshire.

The 45-year-old suffered a head injury after the serious assault that took place on Beechwood Drive, Coatbridge, at around 9.10pm on Wednesday.

Emergency services attended and the victim was taken to University Hospital Monklands, where he has been treated for his injuries.

Police are now looking to trace the three men involved in the “targeted” attack and are appealing for witnesses.

Detective constable Paul James said: “We believe this was a targeted attack and there is no risk to the wider public.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time or may have dashcam footage to get in touch via 101.”
