A man has been left “shaken” after he was robbed and assaulted by a group of men in Inverclyde.
The gang attacked the 20-year-old and stole his personal belongings at around 10pm on Thursday night in a lane between Kilcreggan View and Clynder Road in Greenock.
He had to be taken to hospital by attending emergency services for treatment of his injuries.
Police believe the suspects fled the area in a black car and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
Detective constable Rebecca Cox, of Greenock CID, said: “The victim has been left shaken by this incident and we are appealing for information to help trace those involved.
“We believe the suspects were travelling in a black car and would ask anyone who was in the area at the time, and who witnessed the incident, or saw a black vehicle, to contact officers.
“We are also keen to hear from anyone with potential private CCTV, dashcam or video doorbell footage.
“Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information that can assist with our investigation should contact Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 3699 of Thursday, August 4.
“Alternatively, a call can be made anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
