A man who died in a two-vehicle crash on a country road has been named by police.

Emergency services were called to the scene on the B842 south of Stewarton on the Kintyre peninsula at around 5pm on Saturday.

Ian Smith, 30, from Campbeltown, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are appealing for information about the crash.

Sergeant Nicola Taylor, of Argyll and West Dumbarton Road Policing, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Mr Smith at this difficult time.

“Inquiries are ongoing into the crash and I would ask for the public’s assistance with our investigation.

“If anyone was in the area at the time of the crash, or has any dashcam footage that can assist us, please get in contact.

“I would like to thank everyone who has helped with our inquiries so far.”
