A man has died in hospital after being struck by a flatbed truck in South Lanarkshire.
The 84-year-old pedestrian was hit by a white Isuzu Grafter Flatbed on Glasgow Road in Blantyre on Tuesday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the scene and the man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he died on Wednesday.
The 53-year-old male driver of the truck was arrested in connection with a road traffic offence but released pending further enquiries.
The road was closed for around five hours to allow for investigations to take place and reopened at 11.05pm.
Sergeant Gemma Blackadder said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died.
“Our enquiries into this collision are ongoing, and I would ask anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen the crash to please contact us.
“I would also appeal to anyone who was in the area and who may have dash-cam footage which could assist us to get in touch.
