A sex attacker who raped a 15-year-old has been jailed for four years.
Saif Alhilali preyed on the teenager at Glasgow Green in the city’s east end on March 5, 2021.
The 22-year-old had previously denied the crime during a trial late last year in Paisley.
Alhilali returned to the dock on Monday to be sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow.
Jurors found he had raped the girl while she was intoxicated and incapable of giving consent.
Judge Douglas Brown told Alhilali: “In relation to harm, rape can have a very significant and lasting effect on a victim.
“This was a young girl who you had never previously met. She was highly intoxicated and you took advantage of the situation.”
First offender Alhilali, of the city’s Maryhill, was also put on the sex offenders list indefinitely.
Frances Connor, defending, said that Alhilali believed the girl was the “instigator” for any sexual contact and that she was not “so under the influence” of alcohol.
He also believed the teenager was older than she was.
Ms Connor also said that the serious conviction was likely to affect Iraqi-born Alhilali’s immigration status.
