Man injured in suspected shooting as estate in lockdown

A man is being treated in hospital after a suspected shooting at a housing estate in North Lanarkshire.

Police were called to a disturbance in Brunswick Gardens, Cumbernauld, at around 6.55pm on Thursday.

Officers cordoned the street off and remained in attendance overnight.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police attended at Brunswick Gardens, Cumbernauld, following a report of a disturbance.

“A man was taken by ambulance to hospital and enquiries are currently ongoing.

“There was a continued police presence in the area overnight.

“No further information at this time.”
