A man has been injured after two jet skis collided on Loch Lomond as authorities plan to stamp down on “reckless” behaviour.

Loch Lomond Rescue Boat rushed to the crash around 5pm on Thursday near Bouturich shore and Balloch Park after being called by Police Scotland to reports of a collision.

On arrival, National Park Rangers’ patrol boats were already on scene, having secured the jet ski and treated the injured man.

He had sustained leg and chest injuries and was stretchered onto the lifeboat.

He was then transported to Duncan Mills Slipway and taken into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service and Police Scotland.

It comes after Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park Authority said it will increase patrols this weekend in an attempt to stamp out what it called a rise in “dangerous, reckless and aggressive behaviour”.

It said there had been a 429% surge in Loch Lomond Byelaw non-compliance cases generated to the Procurator Fiscal between 2025 and June 2026.

95% of all generated cases on Loch Lomond in 2026 have involved jet skis.

Ahead of warm weather this weekend, park rangers will have an increased presence around popular spots such as Luss and Duck Bay.

Gordon Watson, chief executive of Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park Authority, said: “While the majority of visitors enjoy the National Park responsibly, the reckless behaviour of this growing group of jet ski users is a serious concern, with a real risk of injury or worse.

“It’s completely unacceptable and won’t be tolerated.

“Our Rangers will have an increased presence this weekend, and our boat patrols will now be recording footage of any concerning behaviour to support prosecutions – in recent weeks fines have already been issued.”
