A man is in hospital with serious injuries following a murder bid in Glasgow.

Police received reports that a man has been assaulted on Glassford Street in the Merchant City area between Wilson Street and Trongate on Sunday, December 18 around 1am.

On Wednesday, officers were informed that a 34-year-old man had presented at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he is currently being treated for serious injuries.

An appeal to find those responsible has now been launched.

Detective Sergeant Donna McDougall, of Glasgow CID, said: “A man has been left with serious injuries and it is vital we trace whoever is responsible.

“Our enquiries are ongoing and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident, or noticed anything at all suspicious, to come forward.

“This area was busy with people out socialising and we are particularly keen to speak to people who were in the Merchant City area around this time.

“Anyone with any relevant dash-cam or CCTV footage who has not spoken to police yet, is urged to contact officers.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 3172 of Wednesday, December 21.

“Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
