A man is in hospital with serious injuries after being robbed in a “vicious, unprovoked” attack.

The 25-year-old was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow following the incident, which took place between 5.30pm and 6.30pm on Wednesday, September 28 in Renfrew.

Personal items belonging to the man were taken, along with a black mountain break with white breaks, during the theft at Robertson Park.

He was taken to hospital for treatment after suffering serious facial injuries.

Two suspects are being sought by police, with the first described as being a white male, in his late teens or early 20s with blonde hair.

At the time, he was wearing a white hooded top, dark tracksuit bottoms, dark trainers and was carrying an over the shoulder strap pouch bag and a glass bottle.

The second suspect is described as a white male in his late teens or earlier 20s with dark dark.

He was wearing a blue tracksuit top, bright blue tracksuit bottoms, a checked scarf, dark trainers and he was carrying a dark rucksack with stripes on the rear and a glass bottle.

Detective Constable James Campbell issued an appeal for information over the incident.

“This was a vicious, unprovoked attack on a vulnerable young man who has ended up in hospital as a result.

“It’s vital we trace those responsible and I would urge anyone with information about what happened or who recognises the description of these males to get in touch with us.”
