A man is in a serious condition in hospital after a car crash with a JCB trailer in Dumfries.

Emergency services were called to the scene on the A75 at the Dumfries bypass on Monday around 10.40am.

A blue Mazda 2 collided with a JCB towing trailer.

The 25-year-old man driving the Mazda was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

Medical staff are describing his condition as serious but stable.

The 64-year-old driver of the JCB did not require medical treatment.

Constable Stuart Delaney of the Road Policing Unit at Lockerbie said: “Our enquiries in the circumstances surrounding this crash are continuing.

“I would appeal to any witnesses, or anyone with information or dashcam footage that may assist our investigation to contact 101 with reference number 1082 of June 5.”
