A man has been left in a serious condition after he was hit by a taxi in Glasgow city centre on Wednesday night.

Emergency services were called to Argyle Street at around 9.45pm following reports of a collision involving a taxi and pedestrian.

A 55-year-old man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where his injuries are described as serious.

Officers closed the road near the Four Corners for around three hours as investigations were carried out.

The 31-year-old taxi driver is due to be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.45pm on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 officers attended Argyle Street in Glasgow after a crash involving a taxi and a pedestrian.

“The road closed near the Four Corners for approximately three hours to allow investigations to take place.

“A 55-year-old man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with what are described as serious injuries.

“The 31-year-old driver of the taxi will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection.”
