A man has been taken to hospital after being stabbed in the early hours in Glasgow.

Officers were called to reports of a serious assault on Boyd Street in the Crosshill area of the city around 1.30am on Friday.

Emergency services attended and police confirmed that a 25-year-old man was taking to hospital for treatment.

The force said enquiries into the incident are “ongoing” and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Detective sergeant Stephen Mooney, Cathcart Police Office, said: “I’m appealing to anyone who was in the Boyd Street or Cathcart Road areas in the early hours of this morning, and saw anything that may be of importance, to come forward.

“We know the area wasn’t busy around that time so anything you may have seen could prove vital to our investigation.

“There will be a continued police presence in the area while enquiries are ongoing. Anyone with concerns or information can speak to officers.

“Anyone with information is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 0205 of April 19. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
