A man has been taken to hospital, and six people were treated at the scene of a flat fire in Dumbarton, which is being treated as deliberate.

Emergency services were called to the blaze at a four-storey building on Colquhoun Road in the Milton area at around 3.07pm on Tuesday.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Services sent three engines along with three additional resources to the scene.

Fire crews left the scene after the area was made safe at around 5.18pm.

Officers arrested a 37-year-old man for a breach of the peace. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the wilful blaze is ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3.15pm on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, we received a report of a fire at a premises on Colquhoun Road, Dumbarton.

“Emergency services attended and the fire was extinguished.

“A number of people were treated at the scene and one man was taken to hospital.

“A 37-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a breach of the peace.

“The fire is being treated as wilful and enquiries are ongoing.”
