A man has been left in a critical condition after an e-bike struck four pedestrians in Renfrew.

Emergency services were called to Inchinnan Road following reports of a collision involving a Sur-Ron electric motorbike and four people at around 2.25pm on Tuesday.

The male rider of the motorbike was taken to hospital, where staff described his condition as critical.

Two female pedestrians, aged 69, were also injured and taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries. Two children, aged ten and 11, were not injured.

The electric motorbike was removed from the scene before police arrived and was later traced. A 40-year-old man has been arrested in connection.

The road was closed to allow enquiries to take place and re-opened around 5.30pm.

Sergeant Martin Cunningham said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this crash and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed it and hasn’t already spoken to police to get in touch.

“I would also ask anyone who was in the area around the time and who may have dash cam or private CCTV footage that could assist to contact us.”
