A man is in a critical condition in hospital after he was hit by a lorry while crossing a road in Coatbridge.
The 39-year-old was on Kirkshaws Road, at the junction with North Road, around 11.40am on Tuesday when he was struck by the truck.
An ambulance took the man to Glasgow Royal Infirmary to be treated where hospital staff have described his condition as critical.
The 48-year-old driver of the lorry was uninjured.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the road crash to come forward.
Sergeant Craig McDonald, from the Road Policing Unit based at Motherwell, said: “I would urge anyone who was in the area at the time, who witnessed the crash to contact us as they may have information that will assist our investigation.
“I would also ask any drivers with dash-cam footage of the incident to come forward too.”
