A man has appeared in court after two police officers were allegedly attacked after stopping a car in Coatbridge.
Police stopped the vehicle on Sikeside Street at around 1pm on Friday before they were assaulted.
Their injuries were described as minor and did not require hospital treatment.
Garv Chand appeared at Airdrie Sheriff Court on Monday where he was charged with a road traffic offence, behaving in a threatening or abusive manner, two of obstructing police and three counts of assaulting a police officer.
The 21-year-old from North Lanarkshire made no plea and was granted bail.
A 22-year-old woman arrested at the scene of the incident also appeared at Airdrie Sheriff Court.
Sian Devine from Airdrie was charged with behaving in a threatening or abusive manner, also made no plea and was granted bail.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1pm on Friday, September 13, 2024, officers stopped a car on Sikeside Street, Coatbridge.
“A 21-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were arrested and charged in connection with police assault and disorder offences. They are due to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court on Monday, September 16, 2024.
“Two officers suffered minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment.”
