A man has appeared in court accused of attempted murder following an attack in North Lanarkshire.
A 62-year-old man was assaulted within a house in Gainside Road, Glenboig, shortly before 5pm on Friday.
Emergency services attended and the man was taken to University Hospital Monklands in Airdrie.
On Tuesday morning, Police Scotland said a 22-year-old man had been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
Cormac Sharkey later appeared at Airdrie Sheriff Court.
He has been accused of assault to severe injury, permanent impairment, danger to life and attempted murder. He also faced a separate charge of vandalism.
The case was committed for further examination.
Sharkey, of Coatbridge, made no plea and was released on bail meantime.
