A masked man was caught with a smoke bomb during an Old Firm match.
Eamon Friel, 27, was caught with the device at a Celtic vs Rangers match at Parkhead on May 11 last year.
Celtic defeated their city rivals in the derby, which ended 2-1.
Glasgow Sheriff Court heard that when Celtic scored a goal, Friel was seen to be wearing a green, white and orange balaclava.
Prosecutor Katie Malcolm said: “He was in possession of a smoke device which emitted red smoke.
“He held it above his head until the device ran out of smoke.
“He disappeared under a flag, then he was seen without the balaclava.
“Friel was identified on CCTV, and there was an arrangement for him to attend a police station.”
Friel, of the city’s Oatlands, pleaded guilty to culpable and reckless conduct.
Paul Kavanagh, defending, told the court that his client is a first offender involved in a “one-off incident.”
The lawyer said: “This was in an area completely unknown to him.
“He didn’t attend the stadium with the implement – it was given to him.
“He took the balaclava off his face in full view of the camera – he was not a professional at it.”
Sheriff Collette Gallagher fined Friel £416 and did not impose a football banning order.
She said: “You pleaded guilty to a serious offence.
“Putting on a balaclava to disguise yourself while undertaking these actions, which were illegal, would cause fear, alarm and concern to people.
“I would be alarmed seeing someone with a balaclava not matter which colour it was.
“This appears to have been a misguided action.”
