A man has pleaded guilty to posting an intimate video of a woman on social media.

Ronald Macdonald, 42, uploaded the footage at his home in Glasgow’s Drumchapel on January 6.

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard that someone on Macdonald’s social media came across the “explicit video” while scrolling.

The woman involved was contacted by the witness, and the matter was also reported to Instagram.

Prosecutor Danielle McGuinness said: “The victim viewed the video and recognised that it was one taken consensually and contacted the police to report the matter.

“She never provided consent for the video to be disclosed to the public or shown to any other person.

“She described herself as being scared of Macdonald and scared of anyone from her work seeing the video.”

Police attempted to trace Macdonald but were unsuccessful, which resulted in a warrant for his arrest.

Macdonald pleaded guilty on Friday to disclosing a video which showed the woman in an intimate situation.

Gerry O’Donnell, defending, told the court: “He has no memory of posting this but accepts full responsibility for posting it.

“He has recognised the impact this would have had on her and her family.”

Sentence was deferred pending background reports until next month by Sheriff Andrew McIntyre.

He said: “It is a serious matter. I have considered you pose a risk to the woman so serious that you need to be remanded in custody to prevent risk to her.”
