Officers were called to the Bridgegate area of Irvine at around 6.55am on Monday near the Rivergate shopping centre.
The death is being treated as unexplained.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.55am on Monday, February 23, 2026, officers were called to the Bridgegate area of Irvine following the death of a man.
“His death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.”
