A pedestrian has been found dead at the side of the road a mile from where he was hit by a lorry in Oban.
Police were called to the A85 in the Pennyfuir are at around 1.55am on Thursday morning after reports that the body of a man had been found at the side of the road.
Officers said enquiries have established that the man had hit by a HGV in the George Street area of Oban a short time before – around a mile away downhill.
The HGV and driver have been traced and enquiries into the crash remain ongoing.
The A85 remains closed in both directions between Connel and Oban, with diversions in place.
George Street in the town also remains closed.
Inspector Roy McCarney, from the Dumbarton Road Policing Unit, said: “Emergency services remain at the scene as we work to establish the circumstances of the incident.
“Anyone with further information on the incident is asked call police on 101, quoting incident 0255 of June 27, 2024.”
