A man who forced a flight from Glasgow to be diverted due to his disruptive behaviour has been fined by a Polish court.
The passenger was travelling to Krakow on June 30 last year when his “inexcusable” behaviour caused the flight to divert to Rzeszów.
The man was removed from the aircraft, causing disruption to 191 passengers and six crew members.
Ryanair confirmed that the man has been fined €3,230 at Krakow district court on May 14.
The airline said it will continue to take action to “combat unruly passenger behaviour for the benefit of the vast majority of passengers who do not disrupt flights”
A Ryanair spokesperson said: “It is unacceptable that passengers are suffering unnecessary disruption as a result of one unruly passenger’s behaviour.
“Yet this was regrettably the case for passengers on this flight from Glasgow to Krakow in June 2024, which was forced to divert to Rzeszow as a result of an individual passenger’s disruptive behaviour.
“Today we welcome the decision of the Krakow district court which demonstrates just one of the many consequences that passengers who disrupt flights will face as part of Ryanair’s zero tolerance policy, and we hope this action will deter further disruptive behaviour on flights so that passengers and crew can travel in a comfortable and respectful environment.”
