A man is fighting for his life following a “violent” murder bid in Glasgow.
The 44-year-old victim was repeatedly punched and kicked on the head by two men, and is currently in a critical condition in hospital.
The assault happened in Tollcross Road – outside Tollcross Park – at around 1am on Sunday.
The two attackers made their escape through the park towards Wellshot Road, leaving their victim with serious head injuries.
He was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where he is currently being treated.
Police investigating the attempted murder are appealing for witnesses to come forward, and in particular they would like to trace two women who helped the victim shortly after the attack.
Detective inspector Greig Wilkie said: “This was a very violent attack which has left the victim fighting for his life.
“We are still trying to establish the exact circumstances and motive for such a violent act and I ask anyone who has any information that could assist our investigation to contact police immediately.
“We know that two women assisted the injured man shortly after he was assaulted and it is vital that these women contact police urgently as they may be able to provide crucial information.”
