A man has fallen from scaffolding in Glasgow city centre.

Emergency services were called to St Vincent Lane around 7.45am on Tuesday.

The incident forced the closure of Wellington Street, between St Vincent Street and Bothwell Street.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “We were called around 7.45am to a report a man falling from scaffolding in St Vincent Lane in Glasgow city centre.

“Emergency services are currently at the scene.”

Glasgow City Council confirmed the road closure at 8.35am and a diversion is in place.

The extent of injuries are not yet known.

A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 7.38am to attend an incident on St Vincent Lane.

“We dispatched our special operations team, a paramedic response unit, one ambulance and a critical care paramedic to the scene.

“We transported one male patient in his 30s to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.”
