A woman awoke to find a man in her Glasgow flat in the early hours of the morning exposing himself before fleeing the scene.

The suspect, thought to be in his early 20’s, is said to have sprinted out of the communal stairwell at the tenement block in Elizabeth Street when the victim was woken at around 3am on Tuesday, August 9.

The woman is understood to have shouted at the man, causing him to become “startled” and leading to him leaving the property.

A probe has now been launched to locate the individual.

He is described as being white, with short brown hair, of slim build and around 5ft 7ins in height.

The woman said he spoke with a Scottish accent and was wearing a dark coloured jogging top and blue jogging bottoms.

Detective sergeant Larry Dempsey, of Govan CID, said: “This was an upsetting experience and fortunately the woman was not injured.

“The man left via the communal stair area and I am appealing to anyone who may have seen him to get in touch.”

DS Dempsey added: “If you saw this man acting suspiciously in the area, or have private CCTV that could assist with our investigation, then please contact us.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 0379 of Tuesday, August 9 or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
