A man has died in hospital two weeks after an alleged attack. 

James Britton was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow after he was found injured on Farmeloan Road, Rutherglen on October 21.

On Saturday, police confirmed the 51-year-old had died in hospital on Thursday, November 4.

An 18-year-old man has been charged in connection with the incident. 

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 51-year-old man who was injured in Farmeloan Road, Rutherglen, at around 12.05am on Thursday, October 21, died in hospital on Thursday, November 4. 

“An 18-year-old man has been charged in connection with the incident and was due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday, October 22.”
