A man has died following an incident on the M8.

The motorway was closed to Westbound traffic for around three hours following the incident shortly after 2pm on Sunday.

Emergency services attended, but the 56-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Scotland has said that the man’s next of kin have been made aware.

In a statement, they said: “Police responded to a concern for person call on the M8 motorway near to Junction 23 westbound, Glasgow around 2.05pm on Sunday, 9 January, 2022.

“Emergency services attended and a 56-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin have been made aware.

“The road was closed for around three hours and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
