Man dies after crash involving lorry, van and car 

The road was closed for around five and a half hours while investigations were carried out.

A man has died following a three-vehicle crash on a major road in Lanarkshire.

Emergency services were called to the crash on the A725 Shawhead flyover at its junction with the A8 eastbound slip road around 11.30am on Thursday.

A red HGV, a white Ford Transit flat bed and a black Mini Cooper were found to have been involved.

A 50-year-old man who was driving the the Ford Transit flat bed was pronounced dead at the scene.

The occupants of the other vehicles were checked over at the scene.

The road was closed for around five and a half hours while investigations were carried out.

Sergeant Ross Allison said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this very difficult time.

“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash and who has not already spoken to officers to get in touch.

“I would also appeal for anyone who was driving in the area and who may have dash-cam footage that could assist to contact us.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 1190 of July 18, 2024.”
