Man dies following crash during group motorcycle journey

Police confirmed that no other vehicles were involved in the collision and have asked for witnesses to come forward.

A man has died following a motorcycle crash near a village in Dumfries and Galloway.

At around 2.30pm on Sunday, a group of motorcycles were travelling together on the B723 Annan to Eskdalemuir road near Boreland.

One of the motorcycles was involved in a crash, and emergency crews were called.

The 41-year-old motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police confirmed that no other vehicles were involved in the collision and have asked for witnesses in the area to come forward.

Sergeant David Kerr said: “An investigation is under way to establish the full circumstances of the crash. I would appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident who may have any information to contact us.

“Any small piece of information could assist our enquiries as we piece together what has happened.”

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Road Policing, Dumfries, via 101, quoting incident number 2531 of June 11.
