Man dies after fire breaks out in ground floor flat

The 46-year old was pronounced dead at the scene of the Inverclyde blaze on Monday night.

A man has died after a fire broke out at a flat in Inverclyde.

Three fire engines were called to the blaze at a ground floor property on Union Street, Greenock, at around 10.30pm on Monday.

A 46-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers said the death is not believed to be suspicious and officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
