Man dies after being struck by car on A79 in Ayrshire Police Scotland

A man has died after being struck by a car in Ayrshire.

The incident took place on the A79 Prestwick Loop Road on Friday at around 11.20pm

Emergency services attended after the 42-year-old man was hit by a silver Skoda Octavia, however, he died at the scene.

The driver of the car was not injured, but was left badly shaken by the incident, officers said.

The road was closed for several hours as collision investigators conducted enquiries.

Sergeant Scott Sutherland of Police Scotland’s Road Policing Department said: “Our enquiries so far have established an Audi motor car was on the road at the time of the incident, however, the driver may not have realised a collision has occurred.

“I am appealing to the driver of that car to contact us as we work to establish the full circumstances of the incident.

“In particular, if any motorists have dash cam devices, please check your footage as it could assist our investigation. Any small piece of information is relevant to our inquiry.”

“Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 4261 of August 13, 2021.”
