Man dies after being hit by lorry on Clydeside Expressway

The road was closed for over six hours following the crash on Wednesday.

A man has died after he was struck by a lorry on the Clydeside Expressway in Glasgow.

The A814 was shut in both directions between Anderston Cross junction and Finnieston Street from 1.30pm on Wednesday, after emergency services were called to a crash involving a pedestrian and a HGV.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and the road was closed for almost six hours.

Formal identification has yet to take place and officers are continuing to carry out enquiries.

Drivers were asked to avoid the area and officers reopened the road at 7.20pm.

Sergeant Adnan Alan for the Road Policing Unit said: “Our thoughts are with family and friends of the man who died.

“Our enquiries are ongoing and I’d like to thank motorists for their patience whilst we dealt with this incident.

“We continue to appeal for anyone with dash-cam footage, or who have witnessed the crash to please come forward.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting 1688 of January 29, 2025.”
