STV NewsA man has died and a woman is in hospital after a fire took hold of a property in Glasgow’s Southside on Wednesday.
Emergency services were called to Greenview Street in the Shawlands area following reports of a blaze at around 6.35pm.
Police confirmed a 69-year-old man died following the incident and a woman was taken to hospital as a precaution.
An investigation into the fatal fire is underway, however, the circumstances surrounding the incident are not believed to be suspicious.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 69 year-old man has died following a fire in Greenview Street in Shawlands, Glasgow.
“Emergency services were contacted around 6.35pm on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.
“One woman was taken to hospital as a precaution.
“An investigation is underway to establish the cause of the fire which is not believed to be suspicious.”
