A man has died following a disturbance in Motherwell.

Emergency services were called to the Shields Drive area at around 4.05am on Wednesday, where a man was found injured.

He was later pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been made aware.

Detectives are not treating the incident as suspicious and a report is due to be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.05am on Wednesday, July 22, we received a report of a disturbance in the Shields Drive area of Motherwell.

“Emergency services attended, and a man was found injured. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin is aware.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious, and a report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
