A man has been killed after being struck by a vehicle that did not stop on the Clydeside Expressway on Saturday night.

Police received a report that a man was on the eastbound carriageway at around 10.40pm.

When officers arrived a few minutes later they found the 33-year-old had been hit by a vehicle that had not stopped.

He was pronounced dead a short time later and police said his next of kin had been informed.

The Expressway was closed between the Hayburn Street interchange and Finnieston Street onramp while collision investigation work was carried out and reopened at around 4.50am on Sunday.

Police said they are keen to speak with the drivers of two SUV-style cars, one black and one grey.

They also appealed to anyone with dash-cam footage that may aid the investigation to get in touch.

Sergeant John Houston said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who sadly lost his life and those directly affected by this incident.

“Extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and although we have spoken to a number of motorists, we are appealing to anyone else who may have seen what happened to come forward.

“In particular we are asking the drivers of a black and grey SUV-style vehicles to get in touch.

“We are also keen to speak to anyone that has dash-cam footage which might assist with our investigation.”

Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 3745 of Saturday, February 5, 2022.
