Man charged with attempted murder after armed police called to disturbance

A man has appeared in court after armed police were called to a disturbance in East Ayrshire.

Firearms officers were called to a report of a man having been injured at a property on Cross Street in Galston around 8.05am on Saturday.

The 55-year-old was taken to hospital for treatment.

Firearms officers then attended the same property for a subsequent disturbance involving a second man who was later charged.

Ryan Docherty appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Monday, charged with assault to injury, attempted murder, and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.

The 33-year-old from Kilmarnock made no plea and was remanded in custody. He is due to appear before court again within the next eight days.
