A man has been arrested and charged in connection with attempted murder after a police officer was taken to hospital following an attack while visiting a house in Glasgow.

Emergency services were called after two officers were assaulted while carrying out enquiries at a property in the Wyndford Drive area of the city at around 7.30am on Friday.

A male officer was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he received treatment for injuries, while a female officer sustained minor injuries but did not require further treatment.

Police have confirmed that a 26-year-old man has since been arrested and charged with attempted murder in connection with the attack on the male officer.

He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday.

Superintendent Ross Allan, of Greater Glasgow Division, said: “This was a frightening ordeal for the officers involved but thankfully neither officer sustained any serious injuries.

“This was an isolated incident and there was no threat to the wider community.”
