A 20-year-old man has been charged over the death of the teenager days before he started university in the West End of Glasgow last year.

A man has been charged in connection with the death of a Glasgow teenager in an alleged hit and run last year.

Aidan Pilkington was rushed to hospital after being knocked down on the city’s Crow Road in the West End in the early hours of September 11, 2021.

The McDonalds worker, who was due to start at Dundee University days after the incident, passed away a short time later, sparking a major investigation.

A 19-year-old was arrested in connection at the time but he was released pending further enquiries.

Officers have now confirmed a 20-year-old man has been charged in connection with the crash.

A report is due to be sent to the procurator fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “With reference to our previous releases regarding the death of an 18-year-old man following a fatal road crash on Crow Road, Glasgow around 12.20am on Saturday, September 11, 2021.

“A 20-year-old man has been charged in connection with this crash and a report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.”
