A man has been charged in connection with a fatal shooting in a South Lanarkshire street.
Graham Williamson, 26, was shot by a man who approached him from behind in the back gardens of Caithness Street, Blantyre, at around 5pm on Monday, August 17.
Mr Williamson managed to make his way back onto the street, where he was assisted by members of the public until an ambulance arrived.
He was taken to University Hospital Wishaw, but died a short time later.
On Tuesday, police confirmed a 23-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the shooting.
The arrest was made after investigating officers spoke to more than 50 people in the community one week on from the incident.
The suspect has now been charged and is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court.
On Wednesday morning, a Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We can confirm that a 23-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the fatal shooting of 26-year-old Graeme Williamson in Caithness Street, Blantyre, which happened on Monday, August 17.
“He is due before Hamilton Sheriff Court on Wednesday, August 26 and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
